Welcome to OBA CAFE, a hidden gem nestled in the heart of Parkhurst, Randburg. This charming café located at 34 4th Avenue offers an enchanting escape for those seeking a tranquil atmosphere paired with delightful Middle Eastern cuisine.

As you approach OBA CAFE, you'll be welcomed by an inviting exterior that hints at the treasures inside. The café's contemporary Middle Eastern decor exudes warmth, blending soothing greens and blues that create a comfortable and inspiring ambiance for a workday retreat or a cozy catch-up with friends. The outdoor bar offers a perfect perch for weekend people-watching, allowing you to soak up the vibrant local scene while enjoying your favorite drink.

The menu is a tantalizing exploration of Lebanese and Turkish flavors. While the specifics of the full menu are not provided, reviews suggest that OBA CAFE excels in its selection of Middle Eastern delights. Imagine sinking your teeth into beautifully crafted dishes that sing with rich spices and fresh ingredients. One must-try item is the legendary sutlac (rice pudding), although there seems to be a slight hiccup with the ice cream accompaniment; this playful dessert combines creaminess and subtle sweetness, creating a delightful conclusion to your meal.

Patrons have raved about the sage tea, noting its exquisite presentation—perfect for those tranquil moments of reflection or creativity. The café's atmosphere has inspired solo visitors like Tenji Moyana, who found peace in the setting while working. The combination of delicious food and good people is a recurring theme in many guest experiences; Vimal I appreciates the hospitable nature of the owners, affirming the café as a place worth revisiting.

However, like any dining experience, it’s not without its challenges. Some guests have pointed out service discrepancies, such as when Gillian Hartman encountered a miscommunication about her dessert. These moments, however, do not overshadow the overall warm and welcoming vibe that patrons have come to love.

Whether you come for a solo work date, a casual lunch, or an evening retreat with friends, OBA CAFE promises to deliver an experience that harmonizes ambiance with savory culinary delights. Be sure to explore this Parkhurst gem for an enjoyable cultural culinary journey. You might just discover your new favorite spot in Johannesburg!

Recommend. I came for tea on a solo work-date and it was peaceful with a pretty setting to inspire creative thinking. I'd come back to sample the Lebanese menu, but the sage tea was presented so beautifully and the decor has soothing greens and blues that make you feel comfy. The outdoor bar perch looks perfect for weekend people watching. My only complaint was the waitor - didn't know what he was doing when it came to the bill and neglected to clear my tea once I was done or wipe up the table so I could keep working.

As previously mentioned sometimes you happen to discover hidden gems when you are not in search of anything. I love how we are finding an array of various Turkish restaurants all over Jozi, each one bringing its own uniqueness. On an evening out, we happened to walk past Oba, another Turkish establishment, slightly hidden on the famous 4th avenue in parkhurst. It does not just have delicious sweet treats on sale, but also gorgeous tea cups and gifts, which i definitely would not say no to *hint hint* We were welcomed in with true Turkish style, offered a piece of Baklava. Being in Istanbul I began a proper love affair with Apple Tea, unfortunately they only make it, and don't sell it at Oba, as they had the brand I remember drinking overseas, but they don't bring the apple one due to the prices. We couldn't resist having a Turkish Coffee and Apple Tea, along with a piece of cold Baklava and another type Baklava. (We had just eaten food and drinks at another eatery) How gorgeous is my tea cup?? I think our waitresses name was Dineo, all staff are very sweet considering it was rather late in the evening. Wouldn't mind going back again. #TheFoodMusketeer #TheFoodMusketeerEats #TheFoodMusketeerDrinks #TFMOba

Contemporary Middle Eastern decor and food delivered with flair and fair value. The proprietors are down to earth and hospitable. A rare combination of good food and good people dare I say and one that I'm happy to pay for again. More strength to the"good"guys.

I ordered a sutlac(rice pudding) and on the menu it states it comes with ice cream but it never came with ice cream and when I brought it it to the waiters attention she was so nonchalant about it and just said “no it doesn’t come with ice cream”. When I showed her what was written on the menu she just stared at me blankly and did nothing about it. Why would the dish not be served with ice cream if the menu explicitly states that it does? The waiter also looked very bored and uninterested in wanting to assist us as if we were an inconvenience to her. She didn’t bring the bill to the table, we eventually got up and paid at the counter and she never said a word, no thank you or goodbye or anything and never gave a bill just held up the card machine and didn’t even tell us the total amount for our bill.
